A Recent Carpet Repair in West London
An iron burn in the middle of a living-room carpet does not always mean replacing the whole room.
At a property in W11, our customer had an iron-shaped burn in a prominent area and no spare carpet. After inspecting the property, we found matching material inside a storage area. This provided a donor section for replacing the damaged carpet.
Matching the material was only part of the work. The storage-area carpet had experienced less wear, so its pile looked different from the surrounding living-room carpet. Careful positioning, securing and finishing were needed to help the replacement section blend.

What Types of Carpet Damage Can We Repair?
The right repair depends on what has happened to the carpet. Missing or melted fibres may need patching, a separated join may need seam repair, and ripples may require re-stretching.
We also check the condition around the damage. Repairing one section is more worthwhile when the remaining carpet, backing and fittings can support a lasting result.
Carpet Burn Repair
Iron burns, cigarette burns, hair-straightener marks and other heat damage can affect both the surface fibres and the carpet backing.
Where fibres have melted or been destroyed, cleaning cannot restore them. Depending on the size and depth of the damage, repair may involve replacing individual fibres or removing the affected section and fitting a matching donor piece.
Before recommending a method, we consider the depth and position of the burn, backing condition, fibre, texture, pile direction, pattern and available matching material. We explain how visible the finished repair is likely to remain.
Avoid cutting away the burn or applying household adhesive before assessment. This can enlarge the area that needs repairing.
Carpet Patch Repair
Carpet patch repair replaces a defined area of permanent damage while preserving the surrounding carpet. It can be suitable for holes, cuts, tears, melted fibres, some permanent stains and localised wear.

Carpet Colour Correction
Bleach and certain chemicals can remove carpet dye rather than leave a removable stain. Cleaning alone cannot replace colour that has been lost.

Where Does the Matching Carpet Come From?
A spare offcut from the original installation is a useful starting point. If you have one, photograph it alongside the fitted carpet and tell us its approximate size.
Without an offcut, a suitable section may sometimes be available inside a cupboard or another inconspicuous area. We discuss the proposed donor location, the visual match and how that area would be left before removing material.
